The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has destroyed counterfeit and substandard drugs worth over one trillion naira in Anambra State.
The exercise took place at the Anambra Waste Management Authority dump site in Agu Awka.
NAFDAC’s Director General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, represented by South-East Zonal Director Dr. Martins Iluyomade, revealed that the confiscated items included banned substances like Analgin and Tramadol 225mg.
The fake products were seized from Onitsha and Aba drug markets during a month-long operation.
NAFDAC emphasized its commitment to eliminating fake drugs, stressing their link to insecurity. The Anambra government commended the agency’s efforts, pledging continued support.
