The Nigerian Navy says it recovered over 400,000 litres of stolen crude oil in March 2025 during its intensified operations under Operation Delta Sanity II across the Niger Delta.
A statement by Navy spokesman, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, on Friday revealed that more than 30 illegal refinery sites were dismantled and several suspects arrested for oil bunkering and arms smuggling.
One major operation on March 25 intercepted a large wooden boat carrying 100,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Ilaje, Ondo State. Another raid on March 27 around Rivers State uncovered eight illegal refinery sites, 40 ovens, and over 110,000 litres of refined products.
The Navy says these actions are part of President Bola Tinubu’s directive to boost crude oil production and fight oil theft. Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, affirmed the Navy’s continued commitment to securing Nigeria’s oil assets and waterways.
