…Urges Him To Implement His Manifesto
Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Anambra State, has congratulated Professor Chukwuma Soludo on his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state.
A release signed by the State NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Frankline Onyekachi, and Secretary, Comrade Uche Nworah, observed that the election was keenly contested and he emerged the winner.
The release noted also that power comes from God and he gives it to whosoever he wills.
They further reminded him that expectations are high, therefore, he cannot afford to let the people of Anambra down.
NAWOJ urged the Governor elect to implement his manifesto to the letter, and also tasked him to carry the minority and vulnerable along in his government.
They urged him to have in mind the National Gender Policy which recommends 35% affirmative action for women participation in governance as he forms his cabinet.
NAWOJ Anambra commended the women of Ukwulu in Dunukofia Local Government Area, for turning down monetary inducement to vote, pointing out that Vote buying denigrates the electoral process and should be discouraged.
The release contended that such acts are testaments that Anambra women are women of integrity, stating that it is heart warming that Governor Willie Obiano rewarded the woman who rejected five thousand Naira monetary inducement, describing women as champions of democracy.
They commended the candidates who contested the gubernatorial election with Professor Soludo that have congratulated him, saying, that is the way to go, and also urged those who are yet to do so to toe same path.
NAWOJ Anambra therefore, prays that God will give Professor Soludo the wisdom to steer the ship of the state to greater heights.
