The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted multiple consignments of illicit drugs concealed in tins of Cerelac baby food and cloths destined for the United States and the United Kingdom. The discovery was made at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
In a Sunday release, the agency revealed that 36 parcels of cannabis, weighing 18.50 kilograms, were found hidden in six cartons of Cerelac baby food at the SAHCOL export shed on July 31, 2024.
Freight agent Salaudeen Suliat Abiola was arrested, and a follow-up operation in Ibadan on August 3 led to the arrest of the sender, Bello Motunrayo Folu.
The NDLEA emphasized that vigilant officers successfully foiled the attempt despite efforts to conceal the drugs.
