The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced a raise in the cost of electricity meters beginning from November 15, 2021.
The increase was announced in a circular dated November 11, 2021 and signed by the commission’s Chairman, Sanusi Garba; addressed to managing directors, all electricity distribution companies and all meter asset providers.
In the document, the price of a single-phase meter was increased from the current cost of N44,896.17 to N58,661.69, while the price of a three-phase meter was revised from the current cost of N82,855.19 to N109,684.36, representing a 30.6 and 32.3 per cent increase respectively.
NERC stated that the new prices were exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT).
