Professor George Obiozor, a former ambassador to the United States of America has emerged as the new President-General of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndígbo.
In the delegates election which held on Sunday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State, he defeated four other candidates to emerge victorious.
Prof. Obiozor polled a total of 304 votes to win the election.
At the commencement of the election, three of his contestants willingly stepped down for him.
Obiozor took over from Chief John Nnia Nwodo, who successfully completed his tenure yesterday.
Present at the election ground were governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, David Umahi of Ebonyi and Hope Uzodinma of Imo state among many other highly placed personalities who also cast their votes.
