Niger Police Arrest Man For Stabbing Police Inspector To Death Following Dispute Over Woman
Police in Niger State has arrested one Alhaji Sabo Manigi, in connection with fatal stabbing of a police officer, Inspector Musa Nasiru, in Mashegu LGA of Niger State.
The suspect, Sabo Manigi, allegedly attacked and killed Inspector Nasiru in on February 4, 2025.
Intelligence sources revealed that security operatives tracked and apprehended Alhaji Sabo in Ilorin, Kwara State, on March 3, 2025, and has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Sources said the incident was as a result of a dispute over a woman.
According to the report, the deceased, Inspector Nasiru, had married a woman whom Alhaji Sabo’s son had reportedly been in love with.
Before the marriage, the woman’s parents asked her to choose a husband, and she selected Nasiru. The revelation allegedly caused Alhaji Sabo’s son to collapse in distress, leading to multiple fainting episodes.
On the day of the attack, Alhaji Sabo confronted Inspector Nasiru as he was returning from work, accusing him of causing his son’s suffering. Witnesses said he threatened to kill the officer, but people thought that he was joking. He then produced a knife and stabbed Nasiru.
The injured officer was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Bida, where he was pronounced dead.
The Police Command said investigation is still on.
