Today is Nigeria’s Independence Day.

Nigeria is today celebrating her 60th Independence Anniversary.
The country gained her independence from the British colonial masters on 1st October 1960, so it is an official national holiday
The day marks Nigeria’s proclamation of independence from British rule on 1st October 1960. So for this reason, Nigeria celebrates its independence on 1st October every year.
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was the first Prime Minister of Nigeria, while Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was the first President of the country.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions have been trailing Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary.
While some people believe that the celebration is worth it, others have the feeling that there is no cause for celebration.
