Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru has revealed shocking details about his time training under controversial American coach Rana Reider at the Tumbleweed Track Club in Florida. In an emotional interview, Oduduru described mistreatment, neglect, and even death threats from the coach.
The sprinter, banned in 2023 for doping violations, claimed he was forced into grueling workouts meant for long-distance runners while other sprinters, including Canadian star Andre De Grasse, received preferential treatment. He also alleged that Reider threatened to stab and kill him during disputes and prioritized his favorite athletes for supplements and care.
Oduduru said his complaints to his agent and Puma fell on deaf ears. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he felt sidelined as De Grasse was specifically trained for gold, which he won in the 200m, while Oduduru failed to reach the finals.
