The people of Obizi in Awka south council area of Anambra State have called on state governments to direct the State Road Safety Corps and Anambra Traffic Management Agency ATMA to arrest the ugly traffic jam and lawlessness being experienced at Eke Nibo square especailly in late hours of the day.
Kpakpando correspondent , Udoka Nwokoye reports that traffic lawlessness at Nibo especially at Eke Nibo square has escalated and is calling for attention that should be responded to especially now ember months are around the corner.
In an interview at Eke Nibo Market, a road user, Mr Frank Nnatuanya who was caught in the grid locked experienced on Friday evening , August 28, 2020 said angrily that it is only in Nigeria that Grid locks are cursed by spirits because on driving to the heart of the lockjam, you will surprisingly find out that nothing was actually blocking the free flow of traffic , but what he called impatience and lawlessness which according him would have been managed better if the men and officers of Road safety or ATMA were on ground to monitor and enforce strict adherence to traffic light installed.
Another road , a medical Doctor , Dr Mrs Ifeyinwa Oranyelu while frowning at the ugly development said state government that is bent on collecting revenue despite hardship occasiined by covid 19 can also make millions from this situation he called lawlessness, from traffic offenders in the state.
She further stated that Patients on critical emergency could died in a traffic Jam if nothing is done across the state to arrest this lawlessness , maintaining that Government of Willie Obiano has done so much in the areas traffic Light installation at strategic junctions aimed at free and smooth vehicular movement which according to her needs strict enforcement by men and officers of Road Safety and ATMA to avert undue congestion .
She also highlighted loading and offloading of cements , Rods, Passengers by traders along the roads and Tricycle operators as some of the contributors of the congestion being experience at Eke Nibo which she said construction of alternative link road , cautioning of Tricycle Operator will help in decongesting of the traffic, these coming ember months
