Ogun Police Arrest, Hunt For Fleeing Rapists Who Gang-Raped 18-Year-Old Girl
Police in Ogun State have arrested two suspects who allegedly gang-raped an 18-year old girl, while still hunting for others.
Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole ordered that the two fleeing rapists should also be arrested and prosecuted
Ogun State Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this in a Press Release issued on Tuesday, 30th August, 2022, said the policemen arrested two of the alleged rapists, Emmanuel Thompson and Joshua Godwin, who allegedly conspired to gang rape the girl.
The suspects were arrested after the victim lodged a complaint at Ogijo Divisional Police Headquarters that she boarded a commercial motorcycle at about 8 am on that day, from MRI Company Area to Ogijo bus stop.
She said on their way going, the rider who carried another male passenger with her, suddenly diverted to another route, and that the other male passenger started threatening to kill her if she did not cooperate with them.
She complained further that they forcefully took her to a room in one house in the area, where two other men were waiting for them.
According to her, when they got there, the two men they met in the room and the accompanied male passenger took turns to rape her.
Following the report, the DPO Ogijo division, CSP Onatufe Umoh, detailed his detectives to the scene where two of the suspects were arrested while other accomplices escaped.
The two arrested suspects have confessed to the crime.
The PPRO also informed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has also ordered the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Departments for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
