
The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing has inaugurated task force and Sensitization Committee to deal with the menace of the crystal meth and other harmful drugs.
This followed the rising cases of drug abuse, especially the ‘Mkpulu mmiri’ by the youths.
Ohaneze Youths also re-echoed their call for a political solution to the issue of detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators.
The group made its stand known during their National Executive Committee meeting held in Owerri, Imo State.
Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing’s terms of reference to the national task force and sensitization committee include to carry out far-reaching sensitization campaigns across the length and breadth of Igbo land.
The task force will also liaise with relevant security agencies, especially, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, towards eradicating the production, distribution and peddling of these harmful substances anywhere in Igbo land.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youths further mandated its task force to provide civil assistance to Law Enforcement agents in ridding Igbo land of the menace of the drugs, as well as partner with other youth organizations in Igbo land towards eradicating the menace of drug abuse in Igbo land
The committee has Comrade Onyekachi Eweh as Chairman.
Other members are Nnamdi Odoh, Comrade Awam Ikenna, Chief Imaga E. Imaga, Comrade Arinze Desmond Chuks, Prince Gift Amadi among others.
The meeting presided over by the Acting National President of the group, Mr Jones Onwuasoanya, also set up another committee that will oversee the conduct of a bye election to fill vacant positions in the association.
