Toronto Police have arrested Amaka Sonnberger, a Canadian-Nigerian woman, following allegations that she threatened to poison Yoruba and Benin citizens in Canada. The arrest was made on Sunday after an investigation into online content posted by Sonnberger on August 25.

Police describe the case as a suspected hate-motivated offense, with the Hate Crime Unit actively involved. Sonnberger, 46, is scheduled to appear in court on September 2 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers. Hate-motivated crimes, if proven, can lead to harsher sentences, as hate is considered an aggravating factor. The investigation continues as police treat the case with high priority.
