In a significant stride towards fostering the growth of beach soccer in Anambra State, the Anambra State Beach Soccer Association unveiled its state team, Anambra Warriors, during a ceremony held on April 4th, 2024, at the Moonshine Hotels in Nnewi. Spearheaded by the association’s Secretary, Honorable Ezeakukwu Emmanuel Nsoedo, acting on behalf of the Chairman, Prof Victor Madubuko, the unveiling marked a pivotal moment in the state’s sporting landscape.

The event drew a notable gathering including board members, coaches, officials, and players, all poised for Anambra’s inaugural participation in the Nigeria Beach Soccer League. Scheduled for the first stage from April 10th to 13th in Kebi, Anambra has the honour of hosting the league’s second stage in May. This marks a historic opportunity for the state to showcase its talent on a national stage.

Addressing the audience, Honorable Nsoedo rallied support from the public, urging for both governmental and individual backing to ensure the team’s success. He expressed optimism about the future of beach soccer in Anambra, hinting at plans to establish a local league and encouraging the formation of additional teams within the state.

Emmanuel Okwudili, the Association’s media director, underscored the commitment to excellence, highlighting the establishment of an Olympic standard beach and forthcoming plans for a state beach soccer league. He also acknowledged the government’s support in enhancing infrastructure, signaling a promising future for the sport in Anambra.

The Captain Chinwezu Gabriel echoed the team’s dedication to representing Anambra with pride and emphasized the importance of community support in their journey. With a united front and determination, Anambra Warriors are poised to make waves in the Nigeria Beach Soccer League, leaving an indelible mark on the state’s sporting legacy.
