The Edo State Hockey Association Board, led by Dr. Walter Imoedemhe, is organizing a one-day Youth Hockey Fiesta today at St. Maria Goretti College hockey stadium, Benin City.
The event will feature teams from St. Maria Goretti College, Niger College, Idia College, and Our Lady of Fatima College.
Highlights include veteran matches between Edo Hockey Masters, Goretti Old Girls, and UNIBEN hockey teams.
The tournament aims to assess the association’s development efforts in pilot schools, which include establishing hockey centers with assigned coaches from the Edo State Sports Commission.
Dr. Imoedemhe thanked members, sponsors, and the Edo State Sports Commission.
He called on the government to repair training facilities, employ athletes for hockey, and sponsor the state team for the national league in Kaduna on July 29.
