Manchester City, on Saturday , defeated Inter Milan, 1-0 to win the Champions League for the first time in their history, making them complete the treble.

The only goal of the game was scored by Rodri .

It was the second Champions League final held in Turkey, the first being Liverpool’s famous comeback victory over AC Milan at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in 2005
with goal keeper Ederson ensuring that City walked away with their first-ever Champions League trophy.

Through this feat, Guardiola becomes the first manager to win the treble with two different clubs as well as winning his third overall Champions League. Pep Guardiola has won the treble for the second time in his managerial career, while he’s the first ever manager to do so with two different clubs (Barcelona in 2008-09 and Manchester City in 2022-23).

Speaking after the game, City manager Pep Guardiola admitted it is an honour to have equalled the achievement of Sir Alex Ferguson by winning the Treble. He also expressed happiness from getting a message from Sir Alex Ferguson on his phone that morning and he is happy to be seated alongside Sir Alex. He said that winning the Treble was so difficult, but it was written in the stars that they would win this season.

Rodri, who scored the winning goal, said it’s a dream come true and that after all the wait, it is down to God.

He said it wasn’t easy with the team they faced , pointing out the way they defended and counter-attacked, but he praise his team that gave everything and delivered an unbelievable effort from everyone.
