Tension has enveloped Ofuoma community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State following the death of a youth leader in the leadership crisis that erupted in the community.
According to reports, many people sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crisis which has polarised residents of the community.
The crisis which reportedly erupted on Saturday was said to be an aftermath of a tussle between two prominent leaders over the control of the central executive of the community.
Consequently, commercial activities in the entire locality have been crippled, according to sources.
It was gathered that the deceased youth leader identified as Mr Felix Edenughe, who was said to be a factional vice chairman of the youths in the community, was pursued, captured and killed by a mob loyal to one of the community leaders.
The deceased was reportedly tortured to death in the presence of his wife.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Edafe Bright, confirmed the incident saying that one person died in the commotion.
