The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to sustain momentum ahead of Saturday’s guber election in Anambra State, as the party received youth leaders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Njikoka Local Government Area, who declared support for the party’s flag-bearer, Valentine Ozigbo.

The historical event occurred at Igweubuike School, Abagana, on Thursday, October 28, 2021, when the PDP held its governorship campaign rally in Njikoka Council Area.

Hon. Chike Uzuegbunam, the Youth Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Njikoka, and Hon Anthony Okafor, the Chairman of the Youth Directorate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Njikoka LGA, led the defectors from their respective parties.

Hon Uzuegbunam, who decamped with hundreds of APGA members, said they took the decision because of the vision and inclusiveness within the PDP.

Similarly, Hon Okafor led YPP youth directors from the 18 wards in the local government area to the PDP.

In his address at the rally, Ozigbo described the forthcoming election as “the perfect opportunity for Ndi Anambra to change their story.”

“This election presents a perfect opportunity for us to change our story, effect lasting change, and raise the bar of governance in Nigeria,” Valentine Ozigbo said.

“We have identified security as the number one priority of Ndi Anambra because no business can thrive in an unsafe environment. His Excellency Peter Obi did an outstanding job in revamping the state’s security architecture, and we will borrow a leaf from his blueprint.

“This is your project, and you must play active role in ensuring that we make a strong statement on November 6. Come out and vote and make your voices heard through the ballot,” Ozigbo, a prominent business leader and philanthropist, added.

In his address at the well-attended rally, the Vice-Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 general election, Mr Peter Obi, assured the gathering that Ozigbo would put smiles on the faces of Ndi Anambra.

“Val will work for you. I have tested and can guarantee that he is a diligent hard worker and will make Anambra blossom again,” Obi said to the cheering crowd.

Several ranking PDP leaders were present at the rally, including Hon Chuka Onyema, the lawmaker representing Ogbaru Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives; Chief Cosmas Agabo, a former State Chairman of the PDP; Hon Barr Valentine Ayika, a former member of both the Anambra State House of Assembly and the Federal House of Representatives, among others.

Valentine Ozigbo is the founder of the eponymously named Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation, a non-profit organisation that has impacted positively on the lives of over 300,000 youths and women.

An inspiring figure, Ozigbo is regarded as the frontrunner for the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.
