
People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder have been tasked to religiously take their drugs as only a proper and effective medication can guarantee their safety from constant episodes.
This caution was made by Dr Nzelum when the Medical Committee of the Agulu Peoples Union , acting under the auspices of Friends for Friends Initiative, embarked on a medical mission to the Association of People living With Sickle Cell Disorder ( APLSCD) at Unity Hall, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra state.
The exercise witnessed a large turnout of beneficiaries who were suffering from diverse ailments like eye defects, organ failures , cancerous growths .
The team which had Dr Nzelum and Pharmacist Chukwuemeka Obi, among others , also donated expensive drugs for the Sickle Cell Home, Agulu. While making the donations, Pharm Obi cautioned against drug abuse as it is detrimental to health.
In her response, the national coordinator , Mrs Aisha Maduagwu showed her elation on behalf of the association . She expressed gratitude for their kind gesture from the team of health professionals and assured that the drugs would be put into good use. She also called for more philanthropist to come to their aid , especially this period .
Among the drugs they received were analgesics, antimalarial, antihelminthics, malara test kits, among others.
