The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Public Communication, Sunday Dare, has criticized former President Olusegun Obasanjo, calling his regime the most corrupt in Nigeria’s history and urging him to apologize to Nigerians.
Obasanjo, speaking at Yale University’s Chinua Achebe Leadership Forum, described Nigeria as a ‘failing state’ under Tinubu’s leadership.
He also called for a comprehensive overhaul of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), citing corruption and inefficiency.
Reacting, Dare dismissed Obasanjo’s remarks as insincere, highlighting controversies during his administration, including unaccounted funds for power projects and alleged democratic setbacks. He affirmed President Tinubu’s focus on reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at national progress.
The Presidency reiterated its commitment to addressing Nigeria’s challenges while urging Obasanjo to reflect on his role in the country’s current state.
