Prof Edoba Omoregie Assunes Office As UNIBEN Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Edoba Omoregie of the Faculty of Law on Monday assumed office as the 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin.

In his inaugural speech, Prof. Omoregie pledged to revolutionize the university, prioritizing innovative funding, infrastructural development, and improved welfare for students and staff. He emphasized creating an environment where academic and career aspirations thrive, commending government initiatives like the Nigeria Education Loan Fund.

Taking over from Prof. Lilian Salami, Omoregie lauded her tenure for advancing the university’s infrastructure and rankings despite challenges like COVID-19 and industrial actions. Prof. Salami urged the university community to support her successor, reflecting on her achievements, including a stronger staff structure and enhanced facilities.
