Reactions Trail the Recent Ugly Killings of Security Officers in Anambra State

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP M.B Kuryas has assured Ndi Anambra that the Command is not deterred by the criminal actions of some unscrupulous individuals and groups in the State hell-bent on tormenting and unleashing violence and mayhem in the State. He reiterated that the Command will not relent in its commitment to delivering on its mandate of ensuring that peace, safety and order reign supreme in all nooks and crannies of the State.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu PPRO, the CP stated this on the backdrop of the unwarranted attack by some armed hoodlums on Mgbakwu Police Outpost, Awka North LGA , in the early morning hours of Sunday, 21st March, 2021. The hoodlums armed with guns and dangerous weapons had attempted to burn down the Station but were successfully repelled by the Police personnel on duty.

The CP hereby warns the criminals not to test any further the resolve and ability of the Police and other security agencies in the State to apprehend and bring them to book. He called on Ndi- Anambra to, in unity, speak-out against the unwholesome and unwarranted criminal attack on security agencies and critical infrastructure in the State. He also called on them to avail the security agencies with information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of these criminal elements.

As part of measures to prevent and checkmate further attacks on security personnel and critical infrastructure in the State, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP MB Kuryas , on Sunday 21st of March, 2021, vowed to ensure the full enforcement of the Anambra State Government’s directives banning the use of covered car plate numbers and tinted vehicles in the State.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the CP, while noting that bad elements in the society take advantage of covered plate numbers and tinted vehicles to perpetuate all manner of crimes in the state, enjoined the general public, especially NDI Anambra to ensure a strict and voluntary compliance with the Government’s directives in this regards.
