SEN. UMEH’S Petition against the Slained ONYEBUCHI Anene gains momentum in the senate

Senator Victor Umeh’s petition against the death of one Mr. Onyebuchi Anene of Umuoramma Village Awka , in Awka South Council Area of Anambra State has started gathering momentum.

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District had received a petition from the wife of the deceased, Mrs Ogochukwu Anene and Ayom Na Okpala Awka Welfare Association, has insisted that justice must prevail on the issues surrounding the untimely death of Onyebuchi Anene who was an only son of his parents and father of two children.

However, the Petition presented by Senator Victor Umeh in the Senate on 4th of July has been referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition. The Committee invited the Petitioners and the Police for hearing on Tuesday 29th October 2024 by 2pm via the letter code-named NASS/S/10/CPP/60/2 dated 22/10/2024 but it was only the Petitioners that appeared.

Another date for hearing of the Matter was issued (November 27, 2024) with warning to proceed with the Case and to adjudicate even if either of the parties fail to appear. 

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition received both the Petitioners and the delegation of the Nigerian Police Force.
