The Simplicity Movement, a sociopolitical group in Rivers State, has condemned the suspension of Governor Siminialayi Fubara, calling it unconstitutional. Speaking in Port Harcourt, the group’s leader, Sobomabo Jackrich, criticized the state of emergency imposed on the state, describing it as an abuse of power.
Jackrich argued that Rivers State remains peaceful, accusing political actors of fabricating violence to justify the emergency declaration. He rejected the suspension of Fubara, his deputy, and lawmakers, warning that it sets a dangerous precedent for democracy.
The group also raised concerns over recent explosions at oil installations, calling for a thorough investigation.
