Society of Nigerian Artists, Anambra State Chapter, recently, paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Dr Christian Madubuko, to present their executive members.
Receiving the team, the Commissioner, Dr Madubuko, noted that the country, Nigeria, was yet to accord priority to the art industry, which generates a lot of revenue in overseas countries.
He observed that artworks help to display one’s culture, way of life and tradition.
The leader of the visiting team, who is also the Chairman of Society of Nigerian Artists, Uchechukwu Exeemo, who thanked the commissioner for the warm reception, informed that they were elected executive in August, last year, to serve for a period of three years.
Uchechukwu appealed to the state government to provide an art village, and studio space, to enable them display their artworks.
The team later presented some artworks to the Commissioner.
