State Primary Health Agency Trains Accounting Officers of 21 LGA’s

Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has conducted a one-day state level training for Accounting Officers of the 21 Local Government Health Authorities.

The training, which took place at Double Bliss Hotel, Awka had in attendance, Accounting Officers posted to the 21 LGHAs across the state with some Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers.

The Executive Secretary ASPHCDA, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu in her opening remarks, noted that vacuum was created when Administration and Account officers were transferred from the Health Departments to the Agency in 2018, but that this was filled by having them seconded to the Agency.

She gave a brief history of the Agency, which was created in 2015 to coordinate primary healthcare activities in the state in keeping with the Primary HealthCare Under One Roof (PHCUOR) policy of the Federal Government.

Dr Ezenyimulu, then, urged the participants to pay attention, ask questions where necessary so as to be able to put into practice all they would have learnt from the training.

Head of Accounting Department, ASPHCDA, Mrs Amaka Maduka said that at the end of the training, the participants were expected to know more about accounting and accountability, functions of accountants and reasons for accountability.

A participant, Mrs Chidilim Eluenua, Accounting Officer from Onitsha South LGA commended the agency and resource persons for the knowledge gained.
She urged fellow accountants to always follow the principles of accounting in the discharge of their duties at various health centres accross the state and do their jobs diligently.
