The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State, Andrew Kumapayi, has warned officers and men of the Command to desist from operating within the township axis of the state.
Kumapayi gave the warning during a supervisory visit to RS5.34 Ihiala Unit and RS5.32 Nnewi Unit respectively to access the level of damage during the ENDSARS protest.
He urged them to concentrate on the expressways except on special cases of rescue, clearing of obstruction or traffic control, in a bid to find a lasting solution on the incessant crashes and gridlock experienced along critical corridors especially during the yuletide.
Mr Kumapayi noted that ATMA and Ocha Brigade are there to ensure sanity within townships, except for occasions
He also warned officers to shun bribery and extortion, insisting that the FRSC has zero tolerance for bribery and extortion.
“FRSC does not condone such ill act and will not hesitate to punish any defaulter caught in the act,” he added.
Kumapayi further charged them not to relent but show high level commitment, civility to the motoring public and dedication in discharge of their duty to achieve the Corps’ mandate mapped out during this yuletide.
The FRSC boss was also on the tour to supervise the ongoing renovation at Nnewi Command building complex courtesy of Chief Innocent Chukwuma Ifediaso and Honourable Chris Azubuogu.
The State FRSC Sector Commander, while appreciating the duo for their benevolence and support in the ongoing renovation of Nnewi command building complex, assured that the support would be captured in the history of the command.
