GP World FA and Konti FC top their groups in the ongoing Super8 tournament in Anambra state.
The tournament, which saw 8 Teams participating, had the opening ceremony at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium Onistha with a kickoff ceremony parformed by Amakom Augustine the team manager of Aspire FC Adazi-Ani.
According to Dr Emeka Okeke, the Super8 tournament is pat of the bigger picture of what will come to Anambra state in the next 10 years, This Super 8 Tournament is part of it’s “Next 10” year plan to reawaken football in Anambra State.
My Anambra Football is a public sector and private sector platform geared towards developing and promoting Anambra State Football through investments in physical infrastructure, technical training, promotion and access to global markets.
He further said Anambra is a state with history of football success, Althletes success that has produced a lot of super Sports, both men and women, by the next 10 years my Anambra football initiative will take Anambra to the world map again, that in the next 10 years Anambra will have many national .team player, and many youths to go for international transfers.
According to Marvelous Ezenwa, our Sports Correspondent, Dr Emeka stated that my Anambra football brand needs to be recognized by the world, as the World hears about Arsenal fc, my Anambra football wants the world to hear about some local football clubs like Aspire FC, GP World FA, and Konti FC among others, to take note of the brand , and the local players, and to attract other Government entities and private bodies.
There is also pllan to adapt few secondary schools in Anambra, football.
Prince Oliver Ndigwe the Chairman organizing committee Super8 tournament said that the newly elected Anambra state football Association (ANSFA) members have been working tirelessly to promote football especially grassroot football in Anambra state, that Super8 tournament is the beginning of good things to come.
