Suspected Assassina Kill Notable Politician In Enugu
Gunmen have shot and killed a top political stakeholder in Isi-Uzo in Enugu, Ejike Ukwueze
According to reports, Ukwueze was killed on Friday night by armed men suspected to be assassins, when he was driving along Neke Odenigbo road in Enugu East LGA.
A video of the incident showed that he and his car were shot multiple times, as bullet holes were seen in his car.
The victim is the immediate younger brother of Chijioke Ukwueze, former member representing Isi-Uzo Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, who in 2020, slumped in the House during plenary and later died.
His wife was subsequently compensated with the seat.
A source close to the family believed that the killing was political and that the killers were on an assassination mission, as the victim was becoming a force in Isi-Uzo political affairs.
“Yeah, I heard he was a strong contender… aside from having the intention of running for the LG election, he was becoming a force in Isi-Uzo political affairs. Standing in for his dear late brother who was one of the most acceptable and powerful political stakeholders in Isi-Uzo,” the source said.
Police authorities in Enugu State are yet to comment on the incident at the time of filling this report.
