Valentine Ozigbo, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2021 Anambra governorship election, was in Ifite Nibo, Awka South LGA on Friday, January 14 2020, to commiserate with the Nnebe family as Late Hon Obioma Dennis Nnebe was laid to rest.
Hon Nnebe, popularly known as Iji Mgbeke, was a key PDP stakeholder in Awka South LGA, and served as the party’s Publicity Secretary in the local government until his demise. He was also an active member of the VCO Campaign Organisation and served as the secretary of the PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation in Awka South LGA.
While speaking at the funeral ceremony held at Hon Nnebe’s residence in Ifite Nibo, Mr Ozigbo expressed a deep feeling of sadness and grief over the loss, describing his death as “one too painful to bear”.
Ozigbo recalled how he first met the late Nnebe and forged a strong partnership that blossomed until his sad and sudden demise.
“When I received the devastating news of Iji Mgbeke’s death, I hoped it was false. Unfortunately, it is real, and we are here today to submit to God’s will and bid him a heroes farewell,” Ozigbo said.
“Nnebe was a loyal, trustworthy, and committed friend. He was humble and had an uncommon sense of duty. His death is a terrible blow to those who knew him and worked with him. I join everyone gathered here today to pray for his soul. May he find peace with the Lord.
“I also pray for the family he left behind. May the Almighty shield, guide, and protect them. Most importantly, may God comfort them in this trying time,” Ozigbo added.
Ozigbo’s wife, Mrs Ojiugo Ozigbo, and several leaders of the 2021 PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation accompanied him to the funeral ceremony.
