Ten Suspected Kidnappers Killed, Five Others Injured in Ochan Forest Raid in Anambra

Ten people were on Friday killed and five others arrested when the Navy Special Forces of the Nigerian Naval Base, Onitsha, Anambra State raided a kidnappers’ den in Ochan Forest on the borders of Ogwaniocha, Ulli and Ihiala communities in Anambra.

Parading the suspects in Onitsha on Friday, the leader of the naval team, Suleiman Agabi, said the command, based on intelligence reports stormed the kidnappers’ hideout in the early hours of Friday and engaged them in a gun battle after the suspects opened fire.

Agabi noted that the group had formed a syndicate and operated in communities around the borders, kidnapping traditional rulers and using the ransom to buy guns, prepare charms and maintain their operations.

Live ammunition, cartridges, guns, charms, among others were also recovered from the suspects.
