The draw for the Super Eight Competition organized by Aspire Football Club, Adazi-ani held on Saturday 23rd January.
The first draw had Anambra Central with 13 teams , Anambra North with 8 teams , Anambra South with 6 teams , bringing the registered teams to a total of 27.
The chairman of the super eight, Oliver Ndigwe urged the teams to coordinate themselves accordingly to avoid disqualification from the tournament while promising that the super eight will be best among equals if the terms and conditions are met.
The competition will start from February 1st to end in March 2021. The eight teams that will make the final list will be 2 teams each qualifying from the Central, South and North and two teams from the best losers.
Participating teams will pay the sum of 5,000. At the end of the competition, the 3 winning teams will be rewarded with 500,000 naira, 400,000 and 200,000 respectively.
Chairman of the Super Eight, Oliver Ndigwe also stated that the competition is basically for players at the grassroots level with the aim of unveiling new talents. He said that it is the desire of Aspire FC to sponsor the tournament to enable the grassroots players opportunity to be exposed nationwide.
The brand manager of Aspire FC Adazi-ani , Miss Madonna Chidimma Ezeasor equally noted that the program for the Super Eight is to uphold and promote ‘My Anambra, My Football’ and to take football in the state to another level and give grassroots players the hope of growing and take them back to the Ogene contest which Aspire FC hosted last year.
Dr Chris Abakere thanked the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) , the Super Eight Tournament Chairman, Oliver Ndigwe, the boards members and especially Aspire FC Adazi-ani in Aniocha local government area.
Participating teams will be tested for the Covid-19 before the tournament begins as all Covid-19 protocols will be strictly adhered to .
