The National Youth Council of Nigeria Anambra chapter under the leadership of Comrade John Udemezue Onuzulike has condemned in strong words the killing of a lawmaker Hon Okechukwu Okoye by unknown gunmen.
The lawmaker was a house member representing Aguata 2 constituency, in Anambra State.
A press release by the National Youth Council of Nigeria Anambra chapter and signed by its Assistant Public Relations Officer, the President, Barr. Onyebuchi Okafor, Comrade Onuzulike John Udemezue, stated that the sanctity of life cannot be thrown to the gutters and nobody has the monopoly of violence.
The NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA called on the security agencies, traditional institutions/Igbo monarchs, political leaders, business tycoons, human right activists, the media and stakeholders in the state, to come together and proffer solution to the killings in the state.
The group also noted that this is the time to show how patriotic the people are by coming together in a holistic manner, irrespective of party affiliations, religious creed, ethnicity, and social status, to speak against the incessant killing going on in the state.
The group also commiserated with the family of Hon.Okechukwu Okoye, Anambra state Governor His Excellency Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo,The Speaker of Anambra state house of assembly,Rt Hon.Uche Okafor and the entire ndi Anambra on this unfortunate killing.
