The only female lawmaker of the Anambra State 8th Assembly, Hon Nkechi Ogbuefi, was inaugurated alongside other members in a ceremony that took place on Monday 12th June 2023 at the State House of Assembly Complex, Awka .

The acting clerk of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Mrs Esther Anaetoh oversaw the inauguration in the presence of the Governor, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

Hon Nkechi Ogbuefi is representing the Anaocha 1 Constituency which comprises of Agulu, Adazi-Ani, Adazi-Nnukwu and Adazi-Enu.

In an interview with our correspondent , Marvelous Ezenwa, Hon Nkechi promised an inclusive representation , giving voice to the voiceless , pushing for bills that will benefit her constituents and Anambra at large.

Ogbuefi noted that her priority is community service and will work with the Sustainable Development Goals as proposed by the United Nations , to end poverty in her Constituency, promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth for all.

Hon Nkechi marked this as her third attempt but successful journey to the House of Assembly as she lost when she contested in 2015 under the People’s Democratic Party and in 2018 under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, and won in 2023 under the Labour Party .

She said she didn’t give up when she failed under the first two parties, but consistently worked towards the goal.

She urged all the members to join hands to rebuild Anaocha 1 Constituency and Anambra as a whole , also promising quality representation .
