In an effort to mark the International Day of Charity, the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Princess Stella Oduah has rescued victims of Onitsha gas explosion from hospital by settling their hospital bill which is a total of N8.2 million naira.
According to report, the victims made up of children and adults sustained varying degrees of burns in an incident that claimed many lives.
The International Day of Charity is celebrated every September 5 and was chosen by the United Nations to commemorate the death anniversary of Mother Theresa.
Recall that Mother Theresa now a saint of the Catholic Church,received Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress,which also constitute a threat to peace
.
While marking the International Day of Charity, Senator Oduah aligned her feelings and sentiments with good people around the world in seeing that her passion to eliminate hunger and poverty is achieved.
She said that she has been following the steps of Mother Theresa’s charitable works around the world in reaching out to the less privileged by empowering thousands of people through provision of skill acquisition,low cost houses for widows and scholarships for indigent students.
