Today Is Easter Sunday, Commemorating The Resurrection Of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Christians all over the world are today, celebrating the Easter Sunday. It is the day Christians commemorate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ from death after being crucified on Good Friday, to pay for the sins of mankind.
Easter is celebrated by Christians as a joyous holiday because it represents the fulfillment of the prophecies of the Old Testament and the revelation of God’s salvific plan for all of humankind.
In commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus, Easter also celebrates the defeat of death and the hope of salvation. Christian tradition holds that the sins of humanity were paid for by the death of Jesus and that his Resurrection represents the anticipation believers can have in their own resurrection
Easter brings an end to the long period of penitential preparation that constitutes Lent.
Church Services were held last night in some Churches and also today, to mark the day.
Church, political, community, Leaders as well as friends and family members also use the occasion to send messages of good will to their friends, well wishers and loved ones.
Meanwhile, federal government had earlier declared Friday, last week and Monday, this week, public holidays to mark the celebration.
