Tragedy was yesterday averted along Awka-Enugu express way, Anambra state when a Mack truck carrying kerosene crashed with another empty Mark truck and a blue black Siena Car.
Three men were involved in the crash which occurred at the Immigration Junction, in Agu-Awka.
An eye witness, Echendu, said the crash was caused by excessive speeding on the part of the truck
Driver leading to loss of control.
Confirming the incident, the Acting Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Kamal Musa, said the crash involved three male adults.
He affirmed that tragedy of immense proportion was averted at about 0915hrs in Awka when a diesel laden Mack truck crashed with another empty Mark truck and a blue black Siena Bus, at the immigration junction Agu-Awka along Awka- Enugu express way
He said the crash involved three male adults, with one slightly injured but refused to be taken to the hospital by FRSC Operatives.
Also on ground were State Officials and Men of the Anambra State Fire service with their chemicals to neutralize the inflammable content of the truck being trans-loaded.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, Andrew Kumapayi, while wishing the injured victim quick recovery warned motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits stipulated by law especially in built-up areas as Road, and reiterated that Traffic crashes are avoidable.
Also confirming the incident, Anambra Fire Service Chief, Engineer Martin Agbili, said the effect of the fire was controlled through the application of water and chemical foam compound.
Although, some on going cars were affected during the head-on collision, there was no loss of life except one of the conductors of the trucks that had some injuries.
