The United Kingdom has donated a counter-insurgency training facility to the Nigerian Armed Forces. The facility, located in Ogun State, was officially handed over on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
Built by a team of Royal Engineers from the British Army in collaboration with Nigerian Army Engineers, the facility is set to enhance the realism of military exercises, better preparing Nigerian soldiers for modern warfare and future deployments.
Deputy High Commissioner Baxter highlighted the long-standing security relationship between the UK and Nigeria, emphasizing the UK’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in addressing insurgency and insecurity.
The facility is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Nigeria’s military capabilities.
The event was attended by top military officials, including Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and British Deputy High Commissioner, Jonny Baxter.
