US Based Uke Community Association Enrolls Over 100 Persons Into ASHIA

A United States based group, Uke Community Association, has enrolled over 100 indigent persons from the town into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency ( ASHIA) through the Adoption model.
Speaking while flagging off the registration at the Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) Uke, the Officer in charge of the PHC, Mrs Jennifer Ezenwuba, described the free enrollment as unprecedented, especially in view of the current economic situation in the country.
Mrs Ezenwuba explained that the Health Insurance is free of charge because the Association has also taken care of the 10% fee the enrollees are supposed to pay for drugs, saying that everything is covered.
She commended the Uke Community Association for their good spiritedness; describing them as true sons of the soil.
The Managing Director of ASHIA, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, represented by Dr Chinonye Nkoroh, commended the Association for the great humanitarian gesture, which, he observed, so much benefits the Community.
“The gesture shows the magnitude of love that exists within the community as the abroad based indigenes remembered the less privileged families in the community, that is the best gift that could be giving at this time.”
He expressed joy over the ‘Think home’ philosophy of the sponsors and thanked them for their human capital investment especially on health.
Addressing the enrollees, Dr Chinonye guided them on how to make use of their health insurance card and told them to report to the agency any ill treatment to them by the accredited hospitals, by calling the mobile number on the reverse side of their card.
One of the beneficiaries of the health insurance Scheme, Mrs Chidiebere Okeke, expressed gratitude to the Uke Association for the thoughtful gesture of attracting the quality healthcare to them, and prayed God to bless them abundantly.
Mr Joseph Obiaja, another beneficiary, expressed gratitude to the State Government for ASHIA establishment, commending the head of ASHIA, Dr Onyemaechi for all his efforts in moving the Agency forward.
Mr Obiaja said: “it shall be well with the sponsors of the enrollment for reducing the financial stress people go through, in their efforts to access quality healthcare.
