Valentine Ozigbo Attends Valedictory Service Of Hon. Justice Azuka, Calls For Urgent Security Reforms
Former PDP Governorship Candidate and prominent Anambra leader, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, on Saturday, 15th February, 2025, attended the valedictory service of Honourable Justice Azuka at the Anambra State House of Assembly Legislative Building.
Hon. Azuka, who represented Onitsha North One Constituency under the Labor Party, was tragically killed after being kidnapped in December 2024.
The somber ceremony followed Ozigbo’s recent condolence visit to the bereaved family, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of the lawmaker’s death.
The profound grief was particularly evident in the presence of Hon. Azuka’s wife, mother, and other family members at Valedictory service, underscoring the personal toll of Anambra’s deteriorating security situation.
During his recent visit to the family, Ozigbo had expressed deep concern about the state of governance and security in Anambra State. “The emergence of videos confirming Hon. Azuka’s fate is not just tragic; it represents the height of lawlessness and disorder in our society,” Ozigbo
stated. “This incident reflects a fundamental breakdown in governance after three years of decisions that have yielded little positive impact on security.”
Ozigbo has been critical of the current administration’s reactive approach to security challenges, particularly noting the belated efforts to transform Ndi aka odo into a security vigilante group.
While acknowledging the necessity of combating criminal elements, he emphasized the importance of doing so within the framework of “fairness, justice, and equity.”
The businessman-turned-politician reiterated his call for deeper reflection on Anambra’s security challenges calling for immediate action, particularly from the youth. “This is the time for Anambra youth to say ‘Enough is enough’. We cannot accept this situation as our new normal,” he declared.
The valedictory service, attended by members of the Labour Party leadership and other distinguished individuals, served as both a tribute to Hon. Azuka’s public service and a somber reminder of the urgent need for improved security measures in Anambra State.
