Valentine Ozigbo Inspires Future Leaders At Nnamdi Azikiwe University Legislative Summit

AWKA, Nigeria – Valentine Ozigbo, respected business leader and leading contender in the 2025 Anambra governorship race, served as the Chairman and Special Guest of Honour at the Legislative Summit of the Student Senate Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The summit, themed “The Power of the Gavel: Student Legislature in Action,” brought together emerging student leaders, members of the Students Union Government (SUG), and civic advocates for a day of deliberation on the role of student legislative councils in shaping democratic participation and responsible governance.

Ozigbo, who was warmly received by members of the university’s Students Union Government and the UNIZIK Chapter of the Valiant Movement, used his address to issue a rallying call to the student body.

“I encouraged the students not only to embody valour but to demonstrate it in all aspects of their lives,” he said in a statement following the event.

“The university is a training ground for future leaders, and I remain committed to mentoring these bright minds to prepare them for the responsibilities ahead.”

Known for his corporate success as the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, and his rising political profile, Ozigbo has consistently championed youth inclusion in leadership, civic engagement, and public service.

Ozigbo, through his eponymous non-profit, the VCO Foundation, is leading a transformative push in youth development by investing in tech education.

In 2023, he launched the Anambra Future Tech Scholarship—a groundbreaking initiative backed by a ₦400 million financial guarantee in partnership with Decagon Institute—to equip young talents from Anambra with world-class software engineering training and open pathways into the global tech industry.

Addressing the student audience, he underscored the value of character, competence, and courage in public life, urging young people to take seriously their roles in upholding justice, fairness, and representation—even at the campus level.

“As I have always promised, I will continue to champion an Anambra where young people have the opportunity to aspire, thrive, and achieve greatness,” he said.

“My vision is for a future where prosperity, success, and happiness are within reach for every young person willing to strive for excellence.”

The Legislative Summit marked yet another stop on Ozigbo’s ongoing engagements across educational institutions in Anambra, part of his broader commitment to cultivating the next generation of leaders through mentorship, empowerment, and policy-driven support.

As the political season heats up in Anambra ahead of the November 2025 gubernatorial election, Ozigbo’s presence at the university—and his consistent message of hope and leadership—continues to draw support among the youth demographic, a voting bloc that has become increasingly influential in Nigerian politics.

The summit ended with goodwill messages and commendations from the student parliamentarians, who hailed Ozigbo’s visit as both symbolic and impactful, noting his sustained involvement with youth-led initiatives even outside the campaign cycle.

Ozigbo was accompanied to the event by Bishop Ike Okoronkwo, National Coordinator of the Valiant Movement and other leaders in his campaign organisation.
