The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has backed Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, over his warning to Labour Party’s Peter Obi regarding security protocols.
Speaking on Tuesday in Benin City during the launch of Edo Line Transport, Wike supported Okpebholo’s call for Obi to seek security clearance before visiting the state. He stressed that governance and safety should not be politicised.
Recall that Okpebholo had warned that Obi’s past visit allegedly led to unrest, resulting in four deaths.
Wike clarified that the governor didn’t ban Obi but urged proper notice to ensure protection, warning that mischief makers could exploit such visits.
