Women In Anambra Enjoined To Participate Fully In 2023 Elections.

Women In Anambra State have been enjoined to participate fully in the 2023 general elections, as their Numbers will make a difference in ensuring credibility.
One of the founders of and the National Coordinator of 100 Women Lobby Group, Iyom Josephine Anenih, made the call at the 100 Women Lobby Group, Anambra State Strategic Meeting/Summit organized for Women in political parties on improving Electoral Integrity and Accountability in Nigeria projects, Supported by McArthur Foundation, held at Hilton Leisure Hotel, Awka.
Iyom Anenih, a Barrister, advocated women inclusiveness in politics, explaining that the organization is founded to give voice to women.
She called on those at the corridors of power to give more women opportunities to vie for different positions irrespective of party Affiliations.
Iyom Anenih, who described women as leaders, and influencers harped on the need for women to support their women folk.
On her part, the State Coordinator of the group, Mrs Ifeyinwa Unachukwu, made it known that the Strategic Meetings are geared towards improving Electoral Integrity and credibility as Nigerians go to the polls to elect their leaders in February, 2023.
She encouraged the women to come out en masse to vote as their Numbers will make great impact in transparency during elections.
Mrs Unachukwu further urged women to ensure that their children who are up to 18 years and above, also come out to vote, to elect credible leaders, stressing the need for women to shun voter apathy and money politics.
The Labour Party candidate for Federal House of Representatives, Professor Lilian Orogbu, in her goodwill message, described Women as vehicle for change, pointing out that they have the powers to decide who governs them as their votes will count.
She advised them to go and pick up their permanent Voter Cards to enable them vote during the elections.
In his remarks, the Coordinator, United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Center, UNP,EPOLAC, Bishop Ozioma Ozoemena, informed that it is part of their mandate to organize Elections, explaining that 2023 election is critical, as it can make or mar the nation.
He emphasized on peace before and after the election, and observed that women are critical when it comes to issue of peace, describing women as mobilizers and managers .
Bishop Ozoemena also called on Women Lobby Group to ensure they carry the message of peaceful co-existence to their communities.
In their separate speeches, the Deputy Coordinator, and the Secretary of 100 Women Lobby Group, Anambra State, Eucharia Anekwe, and Ugochi Freeman, APGA Awka South Chairman, Honourable Chikodili Nonyelu as well as the Executive Director, Catch Them Young, Mr Nonso Orakwe, among others, supported women inclusiveness in politics as they help to bring lasting peace in their various communities.
He ended by reminding the participants about the mantra, ‘Vote not fight, Election no be War”, saying that their power is in the PVC.
