Former 2021 Anambra state gubernatorial candidate, Mr Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, has challenged graduates of Tansian University to deploy their education and experiences as tools to change the status quo and make the country better.
In a convocation lecture at the university on Friday, Ozigbo charged the students to work for change and to create a better future for the country. He lamented that the ‘Nigerian dream’ promised a good life, a prosperous and just society, and a globally respected and admired nation, but questioned why this promise wasn’t preserved and handed down to the next generation.
Ozigbo emphasized that the society’s rejuvenation depends on how well the students apply the knowledge they have gained, noting that everyone’s responsibility as citizens is crucial.
He told them that each of them holds within them the power to shape the future, to lead with courage and compassion, and to make a difference in the world.
Ozigbo noted that the graduates are stepping into a society deeply scarred by successive, inept political leadership and the pathways that once guaranteed success are now uncertain.
He titled the lecture “Redeeming Ourselves: A Call for True Citizenship.” He challenged them to harness their knowledge, skills, and collective will to build a nation that reflects their highest ideals.
