The Senatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, for Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 2023 general election, Dr Chinedu Umeadi, has met with leaders of Anambra State Association of Town Union leaders.

The meeting, held on the 31st of May, 2022, was based on the invitation by the association to interact with the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, for the Anambra Central Senatorial District election coming up next year.

In his keynote address at the event, Dr Chinedu Anthony Umeadi thanked leaders of the town unions in the 7 LGAs of Anambra Central Senatorial District for finding time to be with him, to rob minds on the way forward towards achieving better representation at the red chamber in Abuja.

Dr Umeadi vowed to continue his various youth empowerment intervention programmes as a means of fighting poverty and restiveness in his constituency.

He, therefore, urged Anambra residents, especially those from his constituency to obtain their permanent voter’s card to be able to exercise their franchise during the election.

Umeadi further called for their support at all times, assuring that the YPP would guarantee the dividends of democracy for the people through quality representation at all levels.

He informed the community leaders of his ambition to represent them at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja, which ensures that the dividends of democracy get to the people who actually need them at the grassroots.

He stressed that his party the YPP is grassroots oriented and will do everything to ensure that the youths are carried along in all his programmes.

Dr Umeadi also intimated that his Foundation had initiated various community and youth development programmes, aimed at equipping the youths with the right skills and empowerment for economic sustainability and entrepreneurship even before he thought about the idea of contesting for an elective position.

Continuing, he decried an apparent apathy by the youths on issues of skills acquisition in prefering white-collar jobs.

He said, “My representation as your Senator, would provide a more needed enabling environment to the youths to explore and maximise their potential so as to add value to society.

In their responses, the town union leaders expressed their joy to have him in their midst. They said it was a thing of respect that he honoured their invitation, and commended him for taking the bull by the horn to contest for the Senatorial seat.

They welcomed the development and prayed God to bless his project, as only God enthrones leaders.
