The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has declared an outbreak of dengue fever in three Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Sokoto state.
Dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral disease, has been identified in the region, with 13 confirmed cases and 71 suspected cases reported.
The NCDC listed the symptoms, to include high fever, rash, and muscle/joint pain. It may manifest 4-10 days after infection. In severe cases, there’s a risk of serious bleeding and shock, posing a potential threat to life.
The report said that health authorities are working to manage and contain this outbreak.
