Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, announced that the state spends over ₦1 billion monthly on mission schools to help moderate fees and improve educational access. This revelation came during Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Service at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith in Awka.
Governor Soludo emphasized the government’s commitment to education, stating plans to establish public schools in 77 communities currently lacking them. He highlighted recent initiatives, including free education for senior secondary students and the upcoming implementation of minimum wage payments starting in October.
During the service, Soludo urged collective responsibility among citizens to build a stronger nation, while Archbishop Alexander Ibezim called for unity and righteous leadership. The event concluded with a renewed hope for Nigeria’s future as attendees reflected on the significance of independence.
