Anambra Housing Commissioner Warns Staff On Performance, Work Attitude

Anambra State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka, has issued stern warning to all Staff of the Ministry regarding their attitude to work which, he noted, has been tolerated for a period of two years.
The Commissioner made his feelings known at a meeting held with the Headquarters Senior staff members of the Ministry at Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
He enjoined the erring staff to turn a new leaf or look elsewhere, as the ministry is committed to achieving and delivering on the mandate of the State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to hugely transform the infrastructural framework of the State.
Hon Onyeka hailed as excellent, the posting of the new Permanent Secretary, Engineer Obi Okonkwo, to the Ministry of Housing, describing him as a key professional, a around peg in a round hole, adding that with him, the ministry will add more values.
‘’The new Permanent Secretary Engr. Okonkwo, when l heard his story, l decided to do something concerning it.
‘’After l heard from him l saw a gentle, kind person with large heart who shares the same set of principles with me. l don’t condone evil, that is why some people don’t like people like us, but you have to like for your effectiveness at work” .
The Housing Commissioner further emphasized the importance of staff dedication, adherence to urgency in treating official matters when they are minuted.
He expressed dissatisfaction with the laxity among some staff members in the past which he counted as a period of grace.
The Commissioner then promised to continue carrying every one along, and asked the Heads of Departments to create a duty roster for job sharing to accommodate every body, while all broken vehicles of the ministry will be fixed to enhance performance.
Contributing, he Permanent Secretary Engr, Obi Okonkwo, used the opportunity to welcome every one and asked them to work as a team in their various departments to achieve better results, while Builder Okpalla Ikenna suggested the provision of working tools as well as more efficient, operational vehicles and hazard allowances.
