Anambra state has imposed new restrictions on motorcycles in the state.
This was disclosed in a release by the Commissioner for Information & Public Enlightenment in the state, C Don Adinuba. On Friday.
The policy places restrictions on all types of motorcycles in all parts of the state allows operations of both commercial and noncommercial motorcycles from 6am to 9pm.
According to Adinuba, this follows a series of security and intelligence reports which show that most crimes in the state take place between 9pm and 6am and were mostly perpetrated by persons using motorcycles.
He added that the restriction on the movement of motorcycles which came into force from yesterday, December 4, 2020, will be enforced strictly and will be led by the Nigeria Police Force and youth groups in every community working in conjunction with the Anambra Vigilance Group (AVG)
While maintaining that the total ban on use of motorcycles in Onitsha and Awka since 2018 remains in force,
He reassured that the Anambra State Government is irrevocably committed to the protection of the life and asset of every person in the state.
He further directed community leaders like; Traditional Rulers and Presidents General of Town Unions to ensure the success of the new measure to safeguard the life and property of every Anambra person.

Anambra State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief Uchenna Okafor, on Friday, inaugurated executives of Onitsha – Ogbaru Plastic Market Dealers Association after resolving issues surrounding the market leadership.
Correspondents report that at the inauguration, which took place at his office at Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka,
He gave the Excos the mandate to ensure that peace is maintained in the market.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of the market, Mr. Bernard Onyebueke commended the Commissioner for resolving lingering leadership issues in the market and uniting the traders.
He pledged on behalf of the traders to ensure that peace continues to reign in the market which, according to him will usher in progress.
Also speaking, the assistant Secretary of the market, Deaconess Rose Enwerem thanked God for the gift of the Commissioner whom she described as a peace lover.
She commended traders for not taking to violence during the dark days of the market and lauded Governor Obiano for giving loans to the traders.
