The Nigeria Police has restated commitment towards providing adequate security in view of the governorship election coming up on Saturday, this week.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng stated this during a Press Briefing at the State Police Headquarters, Amawbia.
The Police Commissioner said they would deal decisively with miscreants and criminal elements, pointing out that officers and men of the command are dominating all parts of Anambra to boost security ahead of the election.
Mr. Echeng also revealed that there has been robust synergy with sister security agencies, including vigilante groups and deployment of the State intelligence asset for optimum security.
He noted that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Baba Usman, has deployed additional personnel and asset including helicopters, guns and patrol boats, as well as operational vehicles for effective security during the election.
The Police Commissioner assured Anambra residents of their safety, and urged them to ensure they go out and vote on the election day without fear, as, according to him, only those who will want to cause trouble will be dealt with accordingly.
He further encouraged them to report crime and criminal elements to police for prompt action.
